Yesterday, during the morning assembly, the members of the pupils’ council were given identification tags  so others know who they are and also to celebrate together again. The idea is that pupils who have something to suggest or bring forward about the school can easily identify them.

Nitolbu għal Samuel

Bħalissa, wieħed mill-istudenti tagħna tat-tielet sena jinsab għall-kura barra minn Malta.  Ħafna minnkom tafu minn x’hiex għaddej Samuel. Wara s-sejħa li għamilnielkom ftit ġranet ilu sabiex nagħtu l-għajnuna lilu u lill-mama’ tiegħu f’dan iż-żmien diffiċli, irċevejna rispons qawwi mmens.  Konna qed nimmaġinaw li ngħaqqdu somma ta’ xi tliet / erba’ mitt ewro, imma finalment, fi żmien jumejn / tlieta, din baqgħet tiela sa għaxar darbiet aktar.

Ikkuntattjajna lill-mama’ ta’ Sam li ġiet l-iskola lejliet li telgħu l-iSvizzera.

Kienet sorpriża kbira għaliha u immedjatament xtaqet tirringrazzja lil kull min ta l-għajnuna tiegħu, kemm jekk b’ammont ta’ ftit ċenteżmi jew mijiet ta’ ewro.

Prosit lil kulħadd tal-offerta ġeneruża għal kawża tant ġusta. Din hi wkoll parti mill-edukazzjoni ħolistika li qed nagħtu lill-istudenti tagħna…edukazzjoni ta’ solidarjeta’ ma’ min għandu bżonn.

Grazzi u prosit lil kulħadd

P Decelis

Illum l-istudenti ta’ Ms Antonia u Ms Pauline tal-Kinder 2 kellhom attività interessanti ħafna li l-għan tagħha kien li l-istudenti tagħna jibdew iħobbu l-qari sa minn età żgħira.  Din l-attività kienet diġa saret għaż-żewġ klassijiet l-oħra tal-Kinder 2 u għaliha kienu mistiedna l-ġenituri li ħadu sehem attiv mat-tfal.  L-ewwel it-tfal kantaw mal-kanzunetta Old McDonald u wara ġiet moqrija storja fuq l-istess tema jiġifieri annimali tar-razzett.  Wara, l-istudenti tagħna ġew murija ideat differenti kif jistgħu jagħtu kulur lil stampa ta’ baqra li huma pinġew bl-għajnuna tal-ġenituri.  Fl-aħħar it-tfal tkellmu dwar l-annimali u l-attività għalqet b’żifna.

At St Ignatius College Siggiewi Primary high priority is given to healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Healthy school lunches are requested through the School Policy and through one of the Action Plans in the school’s SDP.

The benefits and practicalities of providing healthy lunches cannot be over emphasized. School lunches should be healthy and portion sizes should be balanced. Healthy School Lunches are needed not only to boost pupils’ energy but also to help them improve their academic performance.

Inclusion of a range of fruit and vegetables is a must. A fruit salad is ideal but if including whole fruit, select fruit that is a suitable size for a child to easily hold and eat. Offer your children a variety of wholegrain bread and include low fat dairy foods. A serving of protein such as tuna, chicken, or egg is advisable. Although at school white milk is offered to all pupils a bottle of water should always be added.

To raise further awareness about the importance of healthy school lunches, photos portraying healthy lunches have been taken in various classes. This was primarily done to encourage pupils to get healthy school lunches but also to share some ideas with parents who day in day out are packing lunches for their school age children.

Through promoting healthier food and drink for packed lunches we aim at fulfilling the goals of turning our school into a healthier school.

It is the time for half-yearly tests for Years 4, 5, 6. Tests will be held on Tuesday 19th, Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st February 2013.

(Year 6 have another session on Friday too.)

For those sitting for the tests, school finishes at midday or 12.10 according to the timetable we sent you.

Pupils should wear their P.E. tracksuit to feel more comfortable.

Obviously they should come to school with a jacket since it is cold.

Good luck. Do your best and keep calm. I am sure you will do well.
